High tower storage solution increases efficiency

A custom-built pick tower installed six months ago on Lutterworth’s Magna Park, has helped logistical expert CML win vital new online business. The tower has increased previous storage space to around 60,000 square feet with a capacity for up to

100,000 product locations. The facility has proved to be a great success for e-commerce and features both static and adjustable storage shelves. A conveyor system feeds garment elevators over three levels and is fully reversible, this means that the warehouse garment rails can be arranged for maximum efficiency.

Online retailers are finding that the logistics of fulfilling orders and returns is becoming more complex as the e-commerce market grows. The unique design of the pick tower can help with the extra capacity and efficient distribution, and offers a practical solution for businesses large and small. The pick tower enables every process, whether pick to consumer or pick to store to be completed efficiently. CML has also won a further contract for a new pick tower for Blue Max Banner, which supplies sportswear, schoolwear and printed garments online.

Mark Webb, Managing Director for CML explained:

“As a logistics company, we’re committed to finding new ways to increase operational capability and expertise for our new and existing clients.”

He goes on to describe how the new pick tower will allow online retailers to respond to orders with better speed and accuracy. With the continuing boom in e-commerce, it is hoped by CML that demand for their innovative facility will grow.
