Garment rails are an absolutely essential item of equipment for clothing shops. Within a retail setting, they can perform a number of different but equally important functions. The rails can be used to hang clothes in backroom storage areas or for display in the front part of a shop. The right sort of garment rails can also be an ideal way of transporting clothes to industry events like trade shows and fairs and then showcasing them.
This guide will cover everything that you need to know about the various garment rails available, and the uses of each of them.
Standard Rails
This type of rail is the simplest and most basic in terms of its design. It will consist of a more or less square frame made of two uprights connected to a bar at the bottom and the top. It stands on two feet and usually has castors fitted to each of them for easier movement. It is a very commonplace rail used within the garment retail industry so that items of clothes in stock can be hung for either storage or display purposes.
An example of the standard garment rails that we offer is the ST02 HD Single Tier Rail. The frame and the legs are made out of tough tubular steel, while hard rubber is used for the castors.
Reinforced Rails
These feature the same sort of frames as standard rails, but the manufacturing process usually involves various strengthening methods. That often takes the form of adding greater thickness and weight to the uprights. Reinforced rails are used by retailers to store or display large quantities of clothing, including garments that are heavier such as full-length winter coats. This type of rail will almost always be fitted with castors, as moving it around a shop or to the display floor of a trade show will be exhausting and time-consuming otherwise.
We provide many reinforced rail models. The ST11 Z Style Rail is a good example of the reinforced upright strengthening method, while the handles on each shoulder make moving it much easier. Alternatively, the ST06 Static Sale Rail is ideal for hanging heavy duty garments in a shop setting where it will remain in the same place all the time, as it has long feet for greater steadiness but no castors.
Easi-Store Rails
Some retail outlets have limited space and easi-store rails are designed for precisely that situation. The purpose of them is to allow you to hang clothes in the back of the shop for storage, or the front for display, while taking up the least amount of space possible. There are also types of easi-store rails designed for temporary use at trade shows and similar events.
One version of an easi-store rail that you can find on our site is the ST09. This has a standard tubular steel square-shaped frame on twin feet with castors, but the rails are designed to be slotted together in the store room of a retail outlet when not being used. That cuts the space they occupy to the minimum.
The ST10 model is a good example of a temporary easi-store rail that is perfect for trade shows and industry events. It has a rectangular frame, but the key difference is that you can either fold or dismantle the rail when the show is over. That makes both storage and transport to and from events simple.
Two-Tier Rails
Garments are manufactured in many different shapes and sizes, making displaying them effectively on a single tier rail difficult. Two-tier garment rails are intended to solve that particular problem. Therefore, they often feature a middle rail which can be adjusted to various heights on the frame.
The ST01 Two-Tier Rail features just that sort of moveable middle rail. A clothing store can set it at different heights depending on whether full-length garments such as dresses are being hung or shorter ones. It will ensure that longer items can be shown off to potential customers to their best advantage, or stored in the back of the shop, without becoming creased or damaged.
Alongside that sort of adjustable rail, it is also possible to get a Split Level model. A piece of equipment like our ST04 Rail features a bar along the top that is set higher at one side than the other. It can be used to display or hang longer garments on the left side, where the rail is higher, and shorter ones on the right side, where it is set at a lower height.
Ultimately, all garment rails are used for storing clothes safely or displaying them attractively. At Steely Products our rails are made of the finest tubular steel by experienced and reliable metalworkers. Use the form below to place an order.
