Warehouse logistics trends to watch out for in 2025

13/01/2025 by Derek

As the logistics industry continues to develop and change in 2025, in this blog we’re taking a look at some potential trends to keep an eye on this year.

Many in the industry believe there will be further developments in sustainability, driven by stricter regulations and increasing consumer demand for greener products. Vehicles used to deliver inventory and orders will likely increasingly use alternative fuels like hydrogen, or carriers will acquire more electric vehicles.

Warehouses will continue to rely on steel for racks, aisle picking trolleys, packing tables and other essential equipment, but as steel producers transition to electric furnaces, steel will be a more sustainable material, and more will be recycled in 2025. Packing will be recycled and waste minimised.

For short delivery journeys, drones and autonomous vehicles may be used for speedier deliveries. Flexible working arrangements and safer working environments will aim to address the issue of labour shortages.

There will be further geopolitical and economic uncertainty which means that the logistics industry has to be resilient. The logistics industry may respond to any potential issues relating to tariffs by diversifying its suppliers so that they are not reliant on a single supplier from one country.

Advanced technology will likely continue to change how logistics works. Artificial intelligence (AI) systems will improve efficiency and reduce costs by planning delivery routes and inventory management.

Lastly, as warehouse management becomes more automated, cybersecurity will be a major issue. Businesses and governments will need more robust cybersecurity measures in 2025.
