A new facility for training known as the Academy of Excellence is opening in Spring 2023 in Lutterworth, operated by Rhenus Home Delivery. The training facility includes spaces that recreate real home environments with a dining room, living room and bedroom. These are used to train two-man furniture home delivery teams on how to safely handle furniture in the home.
The courses offered by Rhenus cover every single aspect of managing, storing and handling furniture in the warehouse. Courses include training on warehouse management systems and customer service.
The Academy of Excellence requires all its workers to have essential health and safety training. Well-designed and quality manufactured tubular steel furniture trolleys, sofa racks and other specialised equipment store and move furniture safely, though staff must know about manual handling procedures that minimise injury risk especially when lifting and moving heavy items such as beds and sofas. The Rhenus safety training courses also cover handling furniture in narrow aisles, fire safety and forklift driving.
Vinny Riley, the CEO of Rhenus Home Delivery, said:
“As a company that represents many key brands in the sector, all of our contact with their customers must make a positive impression. The new centre represents our continued investment in and commitment to compliance, health and safety and customer service excellence.”
The training centre is within Rhenus’ 258,000 square feet facility. The company delivers appliances, furniture and mattresses all over the UK on behalf of manufactures and e-commerce retailers.
